Clutter Collectors is a free community service from Roots Relocated
Life doesn’t always give us time to plan. Moves, health changes, loss, or sudden transitions can mean belongings need to be released quickly — while at the same time, new items may be needed just as fast to support a new chapter.
At Roots Relocated, we work at the centre of these moments every day. Through relocations, downsizing, estate clearing, senior transitions, and major life changes, we often see both sides at once: people who need to let go, and people who are just beginning again.
Clutter Collectors is our free, community-based service designed to gently bridge that gap.

Because of the work we do across Southern Vancouver Island, we are in a unique position to help usable household items find a second life — while helping individuals and families in transition access what they need, when they need it.
This isn’t about junk. It’s about timing, transition, and care.
When you’re moving, downsizing, clearing a home, or navigating a major life change, we can help identify items that may still be useful to others in the community. Depending on timing, item type, and capacity, items may be connected directly with people who need them, or directed to trusted local organizations who have been doing this work for years.
We regularly coordinate and support drop-offs to long-standing community partners, including WIN (Women in Need), Anney’s Closet, St. Vincent de Paul, HelpUkraineVI, and the Salvation Army.
When appropriate, items may also be gifted directly to local families in transition, including individuals and families fleeing domestic violence and newcomers and new immigrants who are rebuilding their lives.
Our goal is always to help items land where they will be most useful and most appreciated, while reducing waste and supporting smoother, more humane transitions.
This work is deeply personal to us. There were times in my own life when my family and I relied on these same community services. During seasons of uncertainty and rebuilding, the generosity of local organizations and community members gave us the leg up we needed to stabilize, rebuild, and move forward. Offering Clutter Collectors is one small way of giving back to the same community that once helped carry us.
Clutter Collectors is offered at no cost as part of Roots Relocated’s commitment to community care. We believe transitions shouldn’t be harder than they already are, and if we can reduce stress, reduce waste, and help useful items reach people who truly need them, everyone benefits.
Clutter Collectors is a compassionate connection service and community bridge. It is not a junk hauling, disposal, or guaranteed donation pickup service, and it is not a resale or consignment program. We will always be transparent about what we can help with and guide you toward the most appropriate next step when something falls outside our scope.
This service may be a good fit if you are downsizing, relocating, clearing a home or estate, supporting a loved one through a major transition, moving into or out of long-term care, navigating an unexpected life change, or feeling overwhelmed by the volume of belongings during a transition.
If you think Clutter Collectors might be helpful for your situation, reach out. We’ll listen first, then help you determine the most supportive and practical next step.
